Volunteer Entry Process

Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue accepts applications during our open enrollment period. For the 2010-2011 Recruit Academy, the application process will be open and begin on Monday, November 1, 2010 and close on Friday, January 14, 2011. Applications will be accepted during this timeframe only. For questions, information or concerns, feel free to contact our Volunteer Liaison, Janey Gregory, by email or by phone at 360.575.6290.

Once the application process closes, the evaluation of the applications begins. If you're accepted into the recruit academy, the general timeframe of the next steps are:

February

  • Take and pass a written exam

  • Take and pass the physical agility test

  • Participate in an oral interview

  • Agree to a thorough background check

March

  • Take and pass a physical (paid for by C2FR)

  • Take and pass a drug screen (paid for by C2FR)

  • Get with our volunteer coordinator and complete all entry paperwork

  • Participate in bunker gear fitting

  • Receive class books and agenda for Recruit Academy

April (first half of the month)

  • Finalize paperwork

  • Participate in the Chief's Interview

April 19 (approximately)

  • Recruit Academy Begins (You must attend ALL classes in order to graduate)
    *Classes are on Tuesday and Thursdays in the evenings and on Saturdays all day

June

  • Recruit Academy Graduation
