Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue maintains six volunteer fire stations with a dedicated force of over 100 volunteers. C2FR covers approximately 170 square miles and is located in and around the cities of Kelso and Longview, Washington, between the cities of Castle Rock and Kalama on the I-5 corridor. Volunteers are assigned to a station depending on where they live. Drill nights are Wednesdays from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. As space is available, ride time is possible on these nights until you are cleared to respond with your station. Until you are notified that you are covered by our insurance, there is to be NO participation in drills, etc. With all entry level paperwork complete, recruit academy successfully completed, First Responder and EMT certifications in order, name badge identification given out, clothing and bunker gear issued; the volunteer will then be directed to report to their assigned stations. The Station Captain or designee must sign off a proficiency checklist. At this time, it will be the discretion of the Station Captain or designee as to when the volunteer will begin responding.
