Successful Shift Volunteer applicants will be contacted as positions are available to determine their availability and assignment.

Frequently asked questions?
Q) Is this a job?
A) No, this is a volunteer position for which is reimbursed through a point system.

Q) How much time must I commit to the program?
A) Once you qualify for the program you must participate a minimum of 24 hours per month as a Shift Volunteer, and an additional nine hours per month volunteer time; such as, a member of C2FR with a volunteer station, participation in the Station 23 Day Shift Program, a special assignment, or additional time as a Shift Volunteer or Intern.

Q) Can I receive college credit for my participation?
A) Yes, you must pre-arrange this with your college advisor who will contact us or send for pre-approval documentation of what is expected of both you and the department.

Q) Does C2FR pay for my schooling?
A) The purpose of the point system is to assist with school costs while providing you an opportunity to experience hands-on application of the knowledge and skills you have learned.

Q) What if I have class or a job?
A) The Shift Volunteer Program is a more intense developmental program and as such is designed for the individual that can commit to the time they sign up for. If this does not meet your needs, you may want to visit with us about our Intern Program which does allow you to leave for school.
