Fire and Life Safety
Inspections
Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue plays a proactive role in
protecting our community utilizing our Fire and Life Safety Inspection program.
An inspection should inspire others to take action to reduce fire hazards,
encourage an improved attitude toward fire safety by management and employees,
and provide a record of the findings and actions resulting from the inspection.
Inspections of commercial and multi-family occupancies are preformed in the City
of Kelso and unincorporated areas of Cowlitz County and are conducted by on duty
emergency crews or a certified Fire Inspector. Our fire and life safety inspectors
concentrate on identifying unsafe conditions or deficiencies in buildings and
structures related to current codes and standards. These unsafe conditions
include but are not limited to, obstructed exits, inoperative fire alarms &
sprinkler systems, and improper storage. The inspections also allow Emergency
crews to become familiar with the building use and floor plan in the event of an
emergency.
