Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue provides fire and
emergency medical services in the City of Kelso and the unincorporated areas
surrounding Longview and Kelso. There are approximately 34,000 citizens in the 170 square miles we protect and
serve. We are a combination career and volunteer organization with
approximately 150 dedicated members. |

Mission Statement:
Cowlitz 2 Fire &
Rescue's mission is to respond to every call with compassion and care, providing
reliable, efficient and high quality fire and life safety services.
Vision Statement:
In 2020, Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue is an accredited fire district
of career and volunteer emergency service professionals proactively applying
innovative technology and management techniques. Working collaboratively with
regional agencies, we meet the fire and life safety needs of our economically
diverse and growing community and maximize the efficient use of resources.
Fire
Protection Class Rating (for homeowner's insurance purposes):
Our current
fire protection rating by the Washington Survey & Rating Bureau is as follows:
- 4 - Inside the city limits of Kelso.
- 6 - Outside the city limits of Kelso, within 5 miles of a fire station and
a fire hydrant is within 1000 ft of home.
- 7 - Outside the city limits of Kelso, within 5 miles of a fire station
and no fire hydrant within 1000 ft of a home.
- 9A - Outside the city limits of Kelso, greater than 5 miles of a fire
station and within a fire district's boundaries.
- 10 - Outside of a fire district's jurisdiction (no fire protection).
